Claudio Cavallaro (7/17/1980) was born under the sign of Cancer, ascending Leo, moon in Virgo.
Art has always been in his blood in so many different shapes:
- Music - since he was 18, he has been an incredibly active DJ on many dancefloors of the north-east of Italy; he is part of the staff responsible for the organization of Rockin'1000 (the largest rock band on earth), as well as the "guitar guru" and music supervisor for the project. In addition to this, he is a guitar player, a singer, a songwriter, a producer and a cult figure of the Italian music underground scene.
- Writing - "Write what your instinct suggests" was his mantra as songwriter, to create songs for Granturismo, the band he used to perform with.
- ... and eventually Visual Arts - his artistic DNA keeps evolving and recently challenges him in experimenting with visual arts. His instinct is still the main driver, and finds different ways to be expressed in terms of materials (from the classicism of paper to the roughness of the wood of wrecked ships and fisherman's boats), colors, styles, subjects.
Precisely in a period of creative block with music, he found new expression with painting. Completely self-taught, in 2016 he saw a river flow in full that allowed him to produce more than 100 paintings within a year. He then exhibited from December 2016 to May 2017 in the art galleries of Sansepolcro, Cesena, Bologna, Rimini, Brescia and Riccione: a new figure on the art scene was born.
His style has been defined "tribal pop". The colors of his paintings combine in a very physical way, giving life to always different alchemies, just like the notes of a song or the people of a lifetime.
He uses different medias and surfaces, including pieces of wood from wrecked ships that he finds in the beaches and the harbours of his hometown, Cesenatico.
Each painting is an urgent mixture of anger and irony, between adult and childish language, between past and present, between very different cultural references that mix into ritual images, which recall the most atavistic subjects with a strong chromatic and figurative impact.
The representations of Claudio Cavallaro employ shamanic and meditative images that project the artist's interest in spirituality, obsession, sex, entropy, identity and the unfathomable questions of existence.
